Travel

Image
We used to travel a lot. But since the middle of last year everything stopped. Before that many people used to visit us but that has also stopped.   I don't understand why it is like that but then there's something good that happened with that change. Before that Mom and Dad would lock me up and leave for work. But now they don't do that. They stay at home most of the time. I love that. I don't like to travel when they shut windows of the car and cool air comes through those two holes. I want the cool air and the windows open. But then if I could choose then I would prefer to have the windows open. Cool air is good but I can do without that. The intoxicating aroma of outside as the car travels is just so intriguing and interesting. It's like being a bibliophile and then finding yourself in a huge library. The outside world as it rolls by is a library of smells - exotic, common place, fresh, rotten, cooked, on heat, dying, born, made, unmade and so many o...

Walk

Image
Day before yesterday nobody took me out for a walk. I waited all day but they didn't. Dad went out alone and then came back after a few hours. He looked tired. But still I wanted him to take me out. Once in a while he does that. I don't understand why but on those days he looks exhausted and keeps talking to himself with that small glowing rock stuck to his ears. At times it worries me a lot. Then I lick his head as he lies down to rest. Mom also talks to herself with that glowing rock. They also keep looking at the rock and touching it. Sometimes they point the rock at my face and then asks me to keep steady. May be it is some sort of magic ritual. Both of then spend a lot of time with the rock. I want then to play with me but they keep touching and looking at the glowing rock. Yesterday Mom took me out to the roof. Dad went out early morning as she was sleeping and returned back by afternoon. Going out wi...

Genius

Image
Today I got a new toy. It is yellow and I loved it. Dad said I am a genius. I think I am just a dog and member of a loving pack of three animals - Mom, Dad and me. Mom and Dad put my new toy in my basket of toys. Then they asked me to get it. They asked me to get the bag. I didn't understand what they wanted me to do. I knew that they wanted me to bring something but I didn't know what. They kept repeating bag and kept encoraging me. I rushed here and there and looked for something called bag. Then finally I got it. I looked into my toy basket and there I saw my new toy. Then I understood the new word was for the new toy and took that to them. They were ecstatic and that's when Dad told Mom that I was a genius. Dad explained that I could associate an unknown word with a new item among my toys and that proved that I was very smart. I learnt a new word. By the way both Dad and Mom are teachers. They lead pack of young humans. Now, what is a...

Toys

Image
I have lots of toys. I like yellow ones more. I can't see all the colours. I can see only blue and yellow colour. That's how all dogs are. Mom didn't know that. Dad told her that. Now, she knows. I like the squeaky toys. When I bite, the squeaky toy squeaks and I just love that. It gets me all excited. I had a flying disc made of hard plastic. I started chewing it and that went on for hours. Mom told Dad that I was eating plastic. Dad didn't listen to her and laughed at her. He said that dogs don't eat plastic. But Mom was right. When Dad was not looking at me, I was slyly tearing off small pieces of plastic and swallowing those pieces. Mom kept cautioning and Dad kept ignoring; and I kept eating plastic. Next morning I vomitted chunks of plastic. I also vomitted a little blood for the craggy and sharp edged plastic pieces had torn the inside of my neck. Dad took the half eaten plastic frisbee and threw it away. After ...

Mom

Image
That's Mom. She is more strict than Dad especially when it comes to going outside and playing in the dirt. But at home she is a lot of fun. Here she gave me an empty bottle of Coca Cola to play with and chew. She has magic in her fingers. Whenever she pats me, I fall asleep. When they sit together to have food at the table, Mom always feeds me something from their dish. Dad doesn't do that. He does but he is whimsical. Sometimes he doesn't. Then sometimes Dad eats all the food himself instead of sharing. Mom believes in sharing and if Mom is there then I am sure of getting my share of whatever they eat. All the same she doesn't give me everything to eat. She says that some things are poison for me. She objects vehemently when I hunt and eat flies. Dad doesn't mind. When I was small, I hunted a lizard and ate it. She cried the whole day and Dad had to console her. Everyday she makes my food and feeds me.

Drive

Image
I can't drive and even if I can, I won't drive for they might get a heart attack on seeing a dog driving a car. But I know a few things about driving. Dad drives the car and I observe him. I know everything that he does. I observe him to learn his ways. I don't understand everything of his language but I perfectly understand the subtle changes in his tone, volume, intonation. In the car there are two holes through which flows out cold air when he presses a button. Then that circular disc controls the car. My cue to get out of the car is when he opens the clamp that fastens the seat belt. He can also roll down or up the window glass. I don't like too many turns and twists. I also don't like bumpy roads. I like when the car cruises at a constant speed without any disturbance. Oh I almost forgot that there's something in the car through which other people often speak. I hear their voices. It sounds like a howl with more variation. But I haven't ever...

Bath

Image
Today on the roof I played a lot with Dad. Mom was also there but she was busy with the cloth line. Dad would run and I would chase Dad. And then Dad would give me a chase. That's the game. After running about for sometime, I felt very hot and just wanted to lie on something wet and cool. I suddenly saw that they had cleaned the overhead water tank and lot of water from the tank was flushed out on the roof and I just wallowed in the dirty water. It felt good. Mom was very displeased. Dad didn't mind. Later he gave me a throrough bath. I like the little rain that Dad can create in the bathroom. I like the sprouting water but I don't like the sampoo. Anyway Dad did apply a lot of sampoo. I like to lick the sampoo but Dad doesn't like that. So, I didn't do anything but just humoured Dad and occassionally attacked the water jet aimed at me.

Rain

Image
It was raining cats and dogs. Mom suggested that we go to the roof. Dad readily agreed. Like me, he loves the rain. Dad is a magician. He can create rain inside the bathroom. There's a small knob. He touches that and rain strays pouring from the ceiling. I love the little rain. He does that only on very hot days. As the rain drops strike me like little missiles, I try to strike down each one of those causing a tingling. That day as we were on the roof the whole sky became the ceiling of our bathroom. It was so much fun. In the picture it is me trying to fight the rain drops as they strike me. We enjoyed a lot that day on the roof in the rain.

Stairs

Image
That's me running up the stairs to the roof. Since the Pandemic began, Dad takes me everyday once to the roof. Before the Pandemic he used to take me for a walk but now-a-days that happens only once a week. Now, the roof is routine and I love that routine. He opens the door and asks me to sit down. Then he asks me to go to the roof with his hand. He sawys his hand in an arch towards the stairs. That's my cue. I spring forward like a canon ball and fly to the roof taking down three stairs at a time. Roof is not as interesting as the road but still something is better than nothing. When it rains, the roof is Heaven. I have learnt the word for the roof. They call it 'chaad'. When they say that word, it means we are going to the roof and I love that.

Neighbours

Image
A few days ago met Max and Pepsi. Dad took me downstairs. There met them. They stay in the first floor. I stay in the second floor. We had our session of butt smelling. Max is a little dominating. Pepsi is always hyper excited. I love to smell the car tyres for the tyres travel to so many places and carry so many stories and smells. I could visualise all those places that the car went to and virtually meet all the dogs which had marked it with their urine. Urine marker is the social media post for us.

Bazar

Image
Last week went to the bazar with Mom and Dad. Mom went out to get the grocery. I and Dad waited for her in the parking lot. They never leave me alone in the car. There we had our photo session. Dad loves selfies. I wanted to go out but Dad said it was raining and therefore we can't. I asked him to open the window and keep it so. He said he can't do that as the car was getting wet. But all the same he did it for sometime. It felt so good to smell the raindrops. I also got a new squeaky toy and packet of treats.
